An International Phenomenon

Cirque du Soleil started in 1980 as street artists on stilts in Qubec, Canada. They grew into an acrobatic show and "animal-less" circus in 1984.  Cirque du Soleil means "Circus of the Sun" because the sun symbolizes youth, energy and strength." A permanent theatre was constructed in Las Vegas, custom built to accommodate the complexities of the show.
